My UF Career

This was a really weird time in my life. I had just been turned down by TWA airlines after I had been hired by them and been given a ground school date when to arrive for training. I couldn't get my foot in the door for any other interviews and was wondering if the appendicitis was still affecting my blood sugar levels which would have caused me to fail the medical part of the TWA interview.

I had just sold my business of five years and had just left my live-in girlfriend of four years. I was kind of walking around in a fog and trying to get my feet back on the ground. I had promised myself I would get My Masters by 28, so...

I applied to several Colleges for a Masters Degree acceptance and was sorta laughed at except at UF where I professor asked me to come down and interview. He kept falling back to questions and talk about my basketball career. I received a scholarship 2 weeks later.

Another professor got a grant to fly 8th grade students and do gravity experiments in the plane. He found out I was a CFI and I got that job instead of being a lab rat. I also got to stand up and teach a few times which was what I really wanted to do. Things were looking up.

It was joked about my being on a basketball scholarship because my advisor had formed a team around me when he allowed me into the program. I really didn't have the proper credentials to receive a TA scholarship. I did make sure I was at the gym everyday playing ball - it was an addiction for me. I wouldn't leave til they closed the doors many days and my knees would be too sore to ride home on my bike.

I was barely pulling the grades and taking a ton of undergrad classes to fulfill the crossover from electrical to mechanical engineering.

It all fell apart when I got on the wrong side of the flying grant professor and my flying deal got cancelled, then my advisor got transferred and nothing was happening with the 2 girls I was chasing. My Dad asked me to help with the flight school as it was hurting financially and he was unable to go to work due to his high blood pressure and other health problems related to SMOKING (Dont do it).

Thus my UF career ended. I was off to save the day at the airport. Maybe I'll try for my Masters again one day.
